MODULE PS

Project management

A new engraving line, a custom-made monumental clock, a study before a launch: this work is neither a one-off purchase nor series production. These are projects, with a start, an end, a budget and a team. PS (Project System) describes them with two structures: the work breakdown structure (WBS), which says what and who pays, and the network, which says when and how. It ties purchasing, production, sales, time recorded and accounting together around the same project.

Chapters in this level

  1. What is PS? A project at SENTINEL · A one-off piece of work, with a start, an end, a budget and a team.
  2. The WBS and the network · The WBS breaks down the work and carries the money; the network sequences the tasks in time.
  3. The life of a project: statuses · Created, released, technically completed, closed: each status opens or closes transactions.
  4. Plan, budget, commitment, actual · Four figures, four moments: what you estimate, what you authorize, what you have promised, what you have paid.
  5. PS at the center of the modules · The project does nothing alone: it receives purchasing, hours, production and sales, and hands everything over to accounting.
